Goma, DR Congo – Gunshots rang out Sunday night in Goma city centre, in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, besieged by a militia with the Rwandan army’s backing, according to AFP reporters.
After nightfall large explosions could be heard across the capital of the mineral-rich North Kivu province, home to a million residents and nearly as many people displaced by the violence.
