Au moins 25 personnes sont mortes entre l’archipel des Comores et l’\u00eele fran\u00e7aise de Mayotte apr\u00e8s le naufrage de leur embarcation, a annonc\u00e9 lundi l’Organisation internationale pour les migrations (OIM) dans l’Est et la Corne de l’Afrique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab\u00a0L’OIM Comores est attrist\u00e9e d’apprendre la mort d’au moins 25 personnes apr\u00e8s le naufrage volontaire de leur embarcation provoqu\u00e9 par des trafiquants au large des \u00eeles Comores, entre Anjouan et Mayotte, dans la nuit de vendredi \u00e0 samedi\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 l’agence onusienne dans un communiqu\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le bateau transportait une trentaine de personnes, dont 7 femmes, deux enfants de six et deux ans, ainsi que deux nourrissons, d’apr\u00e8s le r\u00e9cit des cinq survivants. Ces derniers ont \u00e9t\u00e9 secourus par des p\u00eacheurs samedi matin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deux autres naufrages meurtriers de \u00ab\u00a0kwassa kwassa\u00a0\u00bb, nom des pirogues comoriennes, ont eu lieu ces trois derniers mois dans la m\u00eame zone, o\u00f9 les Comores et Mayotte ne sont s\u00e9par\u00e9s que de 70 kilom\u00e8tres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lors de la proclamation de l’ind\u00e9pendance des Comores, Mayotte a choisi de rester en France par deux r\u00e9f\u00e9rendums en 1974 et 1976.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En septembre, un bateau transportant douze personnes \u00e0 son bord n’avait jamais atteint Mayotte apr\u00e8s avoir pris la mer depuis Anjouan. Un mois, plus t\u00f4t, en ao\u00fbt, huit personnes \u00e9taient mortes dans des circonstances similaires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le bras de mer s\u00e9parant l’archipel des Comores de Mayotte, devenu un d\u00e9partement fran\u00e7ais en 2011, est une route migratoire particuli\u00e8rement meurtri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un an apr\u00e8s l’incorporation de Mayotte parmi les d\u00e9partements fran\u00e7ais, un rapport s\u00e9natorial estimait que sur la p\u00e9riode de 1995 \u00e0 2012, entre 7.000 et 12.000 personnes \u00e9taient mortes ou disparues dans une tentative de travers\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pr\u00e8s de la moiti\u00e9 de la population de Mayotte \u00e9tait \u00e9trang\u00e8re selon les derniers chiffres de l’institut national de statistiques fran\u00e7ais, en 2017. Parmi ces 123.000 personnes, 95% \u00e9taient comoriennes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
