Biram Senghor has a led a 50-year battle to get justice and reparations for Senegalese soldiers, including his father, who were killed by French colonial troops in a 1944 massacre. This as Senegal prepares to mark the 80th anniversary of the gruesome execution, on 1 December. “France must repent, apologize to the rightful heirs,” he says. “Then, France must pay the damages and interest of the people they massacred like that.”
